Slow speed problems continue with g36 upgrade from CAX30

Over the past year, I have had continued slow download speeds (200-300 Mbps) on my Gigabit service.  I knew that my CAX30 was limited to 949 Mbps, so I upgrade to an Arris G36 per recommendations on this site.  My speeds continue to be just as low, no with noticeable impacts on browsing or streaming (buffer waits).  Wondering if this new modem was provisioned right, or if there is a local WAN problem?

I just upgraded to the Arris G36 based on Xfinity saying it is RECOMMENDED.  Very disappointing!  Rumor says that Xfinity needs to push an update to improve compatibility.  Is this true?  If so, when can I expect it?  My product return period (Best Buy) is expired.  So I'm stuck?

Hi there and welcome to Comcast @daveflyer. I am sorry to hear that you are having troubles with your modem. Now if the modem is part of the compatible modem on our list here https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned. The modem should be getting updates from the manufacture once they push one out. WE do not control the updates for customer own modems.
