Slow Speed- Gigabit
I am a new customer. I had Gigabit internet installed in mid-march at my new home. When the technician was here installing the new line, we were clocking speeds in the mid 900's.
It has NEVER been the same speed since. even after restarting the modem multiple times in the last two months. As I'm writing this, it clocked 89.9Mbps. It is connected to the same equipment the same computer and the same speed test etc. I am using the Xfinity modem, and I'm hard-wired through a docking station. The docking station has been used for about a year and a half while on Google Fiber, and has never caused a slowdown. I always clocked between 700-950 while on Google Fiber. I need the dock to be hard-wired because my computer is a Macbook pro with USB-C ports.
I had to purchase Pods because the signal is so weak, I didn't have enough bandwidth to reach the other rooms of the home. It's 1700sft.. one floor, wood-frame home.
When I had google fiber and google's modem, I was able to get 300Mbps in all parts of a similar-sized brick home at all times. no need for Pods. I was getting at least 50Mbps in the far reaches of the yard.
Question: Is Xfinity reducing the service purposefully? Why am I paying a premium for 1000Mbps and only getting 89?
