Slow service and extreme packet loss since "work to enhance the network in your neighborhood"
Hi there.
Ever since "work to enhance the network in your area" in the early morning of Thursday 1/22, my Xfinity services have been nearly unusable. Prior to this maintenance work, they were acceptable and the issues below did not occur.
Since the work, my service is very slow. Websites load very unusually slowly. Gaming is impossible due to lag and rubberbanding where it was not before.
On doing ping and tracert tests to known addresses like 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8, I am getting a lot of response time-outs. Tests on packetlosstest.com confirm that I am dropping a crazy amount of packets, mostly on the upload portion, and have a lot of slow packets.
All tests show similar packet loss between 10 and 97%. This amount makes normal usage, especially for gaming, impossible. I can provide screencaps of these.
A rep on a customer service call earlier tried to tell me that my old router/modem is the issue, but the equipment performed fine in this regard until the first time I tried to use it after the aforementioned service work. I have no complaints about not reaching the max offered speed of my plan due to the equipment, and have known that the device was bottlenecking me for a long time, but do not see how an older piece of equipment (and one not that old for a basic piece of sit-there technology) would suddenly result in so many dropped packets. I am quite convinced that an error has been made with downstream infrastructure in the course of the service work in my area.
I have powercycled the router and checked the connections several times, as well as reset my Windows networking devices.
I'm happy to share tracert or other data with a rep!
Thank you.
