Slow LAN speed after upgrading to 1.2gb and installing new equipment

I have a 1.2gb plan. Just installed equipment. No issues detected by bot chat. 900mbps max. I should be getting closer to 2,000 mbps. Upload speeds are as advertised.

I see others on this forum with the same issue. No solutions other than essentially "It's you, not us."

So before support says anything...

  • I run malware scans weekly. I built my computer and take good care of it.
  • I restarted the modem twice.
  • I am connected via LAN
  • No, I am not downloading anything else.
  • I've tried 3 different ethernet cables

It is YOU, Xfinity. Take some accountability and help me.

As of now I am paying extra for literally no speed improvement compared to my previous plan.

@arobo21

Actually on the 1.2 gig plan, you shoud be getting around 1.2 to 1.4 GHz, not 2000.

That being said, what model modem / router / or gateway device are you using? Are you using Cat6 Ethernet cables ? Does your computer's network interface adapter support greater than gig speeds (2.5 gig Ethernet port) ?

Thanks for reaching out on our Community Forums, arobo21! @EG shared some accurate information. A 1.2 GB subscription can provide speeds of up to 1200 Mbps. They also asked a few great questions about your modem and the devices you're using to test the connection. When you have a moment, could you share those details with us? That’ll help us better assist you.

Thanks for your help, EG!
