Sever Buffering

Hello,

I’m experiencing severe packet delay and buffering during real-time streaming, even though speed tests appear normal. I ran MTR tests and confirmed multiple seconds of latency and high jitter inside Comcast’s backbone and Michigan regional network (Flint / Pontiac area).

The issue does not appear on the upstream provider side and only begins once traffic enters Comcast’s network. Here are the affected nodes shown in trace:

  • *.comcast.net ibone routers
  • arsc1.pontiac.mi.michigan.comcast.net
  • xar02.flint.mi.michigan.comcast.net

Symptoms:

  • 200–7000ms latency spikes
  • high jitter (300–1000ms)
  • streaming stalls/ buffering
  • issue is noticeable during evenings

This appears to be a congestion or routing issue inside Comcast’s backbone or regional aggregation, not a problem with my local modem or Wi-Fi.

Could you please escalate this to a network engineer to review the Flint/Pontiac MI transport path or open a regional ticket?

Thank you,

Stephanie Popoff
