Setup VPN Without Modem In Bridge Mode
Hello all... I previously had a VPN working, but some changes in my setup has introduced some complexity. I have an Asus Rapture GT-AX11000 router with an Xfinity xFi modem. I am using OpenVPN on my Asus router. Previously, I had my Xfinity modem in bridge mode, and all was good. My router had my WAN IP address and the VPN worked great. Recently, I needed to use install a wireless cable box (Xi6) to a TV mounted outside in which running a coaxial cable to was not an option. In order to get the Xi6 to work, however, Comcast had to disable bridge mode. Now my Xi6 works great, but VPN no longer works as my router has an internal address (10.0.0.23) and no longer shows the WAN address.
So my question is:
Is there a way to reconfigure my VPN to work without my modem having to be in bridge mode? It seems like I'm stuck here - with bridge mode disabled my Xi6 works but my VPN doesn't, and if I enable bridge mode my VPN works but my Xi6 does not. What options do I have?

Hello! Unfortunately, you cannot run a router and a wireless gateway that isn't in bridge mode. That can cause a whole host of issues. You can use a streaming device on our outdoor TV instead of a wireless cable box. You can find out more about that at https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfinity-stream-beta-app-faqs.

@Techie9 FWIW, double NAT'ing is a tough situation. It really complicates the port forwarding process but you may be able to workaround / bypass it. See if anything here helps you;

Good luck with it !
