Setting up VPN for use overseas

Hello,

I am trying to setup a VPN on my home network and connect that to a portable router for when I travel. I have dedicated PC setup and already configured the ports, but the router is unable to communicate with my home network for some reason.

Does the Xfinity Gateway block traffic from a foreign country? Or is there a settings that need to be enabled for creating a VPN.

What are you using for a portable router, and what VPN software are you using on both?

Hello @user_b2fc77 thank you for reaching out to us through our Forums community. We appreciate your patience with our response. We do not block traffic from foreign country to answer your question. Can you tell me if you have your gateway set-up in bridge-mode?

I no longer work for Comcast.

Not much information to go on.  I'm not familiar with either. What is the topology?

Windows box (running your strange VPN software) <-->  Xfinity gateway??

                                    -or-

Windows box (running your strange VPN software) <--> odd router in the middle <--> modem or gateway in bridge mode?  It can get a little wonky of you are doing a double natd  == running your Xfinity gateway in gateway mode, then trying to open a port on another router for a different internal network.

Are you just trying to connect a single client to your VPN server?  As long as you're not running on a blocked port: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/list-of-blocked-ports it should work, provided you got the port open and forwarded correctly.
