Security Issue with Modem?
"Give guests access to separate WiFi network called "xfinitywifi" without sharing your password or slowing down your network"
Have had the newer comcast modem with built in WiFi for a few years. Since I have my own WiFI router, the comcast modem is in bridge mode and both WiFi`s on it are turned off. What I did`nt know that it broadcast an unsecured guest network that nobody has to have a password for! Learned it by looking at my Modem in my account today. Have always seen the unsecured Xfinity available in available WiFi list, never knew it was coming from me.
If anybody can use it when it was on, how unsecure was my modem?
It is now turned off and not listed as an available WiFi connection.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Xfinity WiFi Home Hotspot feature?
Your Xfinity Wireless Gateway broadcasts two additional network signals (“xfintiywifi” and “XFINITY”), creating an extension of the Xfinity WiFi network right in your home. This service is completely separate from your secure, private home WiFi network

FWIW, it is a completely separate and isolated service flow from the device.

@JulianR1
Thanks for the response!
I would like to believe it is a total seperate system, but I think thats not the case. A unsecured free data access to the internet coming from my modem, why would anyone connect to anything else? 😀
