Second IP address to be used with SB8200

Hello,

I have seen here many success stories of adding a second IP address to be used with Arris SB8200 modem. My calls to Xfinity support were unsuccessfull though, nobody would understand my question. Can anybody help me please? @ComcastAlly@ComcastMorgan, can you help please?

Hi there, Comcuser.

I would love to help look into this for you. I will need to have your account information pulled up first. Can you please private message me your full name? Thank you for posting to our forums.

First, check the "Rate Card" for your local area to see if that feature is even available anymore. Seems that it is being phased out;

https://www.xfinity.com/support/rate-card/

It's a PDF.

Scroll down to "Xfinity Internet" and look for "Additional IP Addresses".

If nothing is listed then it's likely to have been discontinued in your local market area.

I'm having the same issue. Just upgraded to the SB8200, which was a pain in and of itself, and was told I can't have two IP Addresses. That is something only for business customers. On the forums I've seen other people say it's been done after speaking with someone at comcast. Going to call again.

Thank you for your reply. I was reasding that very often it is possible to have a second IP address even if the pdf doc does not show this. And I am reading very recent posts here , less than a month ago, that mention successfully adding the second IP address. I need to know for sure. Why would not it be given to me if it will share the same traffic / bandwidth? It is just an address.

They are phasing it out but I'm going to escalate your issue to the Comcast corporate employees that are available to these boards. We've seen cases here where they have been able to get this accomplished for customers even when it is not listed in their rate cards, YMMV. You should get a reply here in your topic. Good luck !
