SB8200 modem DOCSIS 3.1 upstream not working and slow upload speeds

I recently upgraded my SB6183 modem to an SB8200 modem to try and take advantage of the 100 Mbps upload (800 Mbps download) speeds on my plan. On the SB6183 modem upload speeds were 22 Mbps. After activating the SB8200 modem my upload speed went down to 6 Mbps. Multiple calls with technicians and 2 technicians visiting the house have not resolved the issue. The technicians are getting 1400 Mbps download and 240 Mbps upload at the cable that goes into the modem. They also verified 5 upstream channels, one of which is DOCSIS 3.1.  On my SB8200 modem the download light is solid blue (DOCSIS 3.1) but the upload light is solid green (DOCSIS 3.0). I tried returning the first SB8200 and purchasing another. Did not help.

I called the modem tech support and they stated that the SB8200 does not support faster speeds than this.  This a modem that is recommended by Xfinity and it says that it supports up to 262 Mbps upload and up to 2 upstream DOCSIS channels. We verified that all the specs are well with those required for the modem.

I did sign-up for a trail with the Xfinity Gateway modem. That modem produces the advertised speeds for download and upload (0ver 100 Mbps).

I've spent so much time with online and in-person tech support for XFinity and Arris. I don't understand why my upload speed is so slow with this modem. Why is the DOCSIS 3.1 not working?

@user_mjodlu Hello! Welcome to Xfinity Forums, and congratulations on your first post. The SB8200 is not eligible for our next-gen speeds. Here (Updated Link, thank you @BruceW)is the most recent COAM (Customer Owned And Managed) list. It details next-gen eligible (higher upload speeds), recommended, and approved modems. The only Arris modem that is currently capable of getting 100+ Mbps is the G54. You would need to swap to a compatible device or rent an Xfinity Gateway to get the increased upload speeds.

A slightly more recent list is available in the "All Compatible Devices" link near the bottom of https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices (at the moment it points to https://assets.xfinity.com/assets/dotcom/projects/cix-4997_compatible-devices/2024.03.14%20Full%20List%20of%20Compatible%20Devices.pdf, but this changes from time to time).
