SB6141 not giving full speed after service change?

I have an SB6141 that I’ve been using forever. It got 400mbps download when I had the 8/500mbps service (which I signed up for in ‘21.) and I knew that was the maximum of the modem, which I was fine with.

But I recently switched to 12/200 service instead and I’m only getting 100mbps download, tops.

i know the modem is old but is there a reason I’m getting so much less than maximum speed? (Is it something to do with the number of channels, etc.?)

What’s a good modem to replace this?

Note that the 6141 is no longer an approved device. Using devices that are no longer approved tends to produce unexpected results, often speeds well below plan speed. Consider picking one of the modems on https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices that is approved for your speed tier or perhaps a notch or two higher, to allow for Comcast's periodic speed increases. Also check the "All Compatible Devices" link near the bottom of that page.

Fair enough. I've ordered an SB8200, which looked like it was on the approved list for up to 1Gbps.

Just a little annoyed/sad about my old reliable modem being too outdated to run 200Mbps service, even though it supports up to 284Mbps according to Xfinity's feature list. I got my money's worth - it will go in the box in the attic of honor.

Thanks for your help!

Sorry to be picky, but "was approved for 1Gbps" is exactly correct. It no longer is. The "All Compatible Devices" list shows the SB8200 as approved for use with plan speeds "Up to 957 Mbps".
