Saved SFTP connections no longer working with Xfinity internet

I have some saved SFTP connections which were working with my previous internet provider but are no longer working since I have switched over to Comcast Xfinity for internet.
When trying to connect with SFTP with FileZilla I initially get a response from the server
"Response: fzSftp started, protocol_version=9"
But then I get the following errors.
Error: FATAL ERROR: Network error: Software caused connection abort
Error: Could not connect to server
Status: Waiting to retry...

When I change my FTP settings and switch from SFTP to passive FTP I am able to connect.
I do not want to use FTP connections that are not secure and need to continue using SFTP connections to servers.
Is this something I can fix in my xfinity network settings? Or is this something that is being blocked or that I need to contact customer service about?

Not sure that this is the root cause of the problem. YMMV.

If you are using a Comcast supplied gateway device, try disabling the Xfi Advanced Security feature as a work-around for now and see. It's buggy ! And there is currently no way for an end-user to be able to whitelist anything;

To disable the Advanced Security feature in xFi, select the Account icon from the top-left corner of the Overview tab on the xFi app and then select xFi Advanced Security. From here, select Disable under xFi Advanced Security and follow the on-screen prompts.

Filezilla has a connection wizard under settings, maybe try that, i dont use anything xfi, but filezilla works great with sftp, i have the xb7, i also read if you have problems, change the transfer mode to passive, or visa versa to active

The XB7 has their "Xfi" advanced security feature.

Well AFAIK, it is enabled by default and would need to be manually / deliberately disabled.

@eg

If you haven't already, download the Xfinity app or visit the xFi website (xfinity.com/myxfi). Once you log in, Advanced Security will be enabled. You can access Advanced Security features (security status and threat details) from the Overview and Connect sections. To learn more, visit how to get started with xFi for details.

I don't use ISP supplied garbage. Never did, never will. I prefer real equipment !!!!!

Let's please get this thread back on topic. My apologies to the OP.

Thanks for that info! Turning xFi Advanced Security off got my saved SFTP connections working again. I also noticed that some but not all of my ssh connections were being blocked as well until turning off xFI Advanced Security. It is too bad that I can't configure the xFi advanced security settings because now I have to turn it off to do any sftp or ssh connections.

Yep. That's unfortunate.... A perfect example of why I choose not to be a prisoner of any ISP supplied equipment. Glad that the work-around worked ! Good luck !

Something else worth noting is that I have re-enabled Xfi Advanced Security feature and my saved ssh and sftp connections that had stopped working after moving over to xfinity internet are now working again with Xfi Advanced Security turned on. They only started working after turning Xfi Advanced security off but so far they are working still 7 hours after enabling it.
