S33 modem and on 1000Mbps plan but only seeing 250-300Mbps

Upgraded my modem to Arris s33 and was initially seeing only 60-70 Mbps. I restarted the modem through the Xfinity app a couple of times and the speed is now 250-300Mbps.

How do I get the 1000Mbps I pay for?

I am unable to get speeds over 300 Mbps for some time now with my SB33 - just recently noticed lag and packets dropping in the last couple of weeks. When I first got the SB33 i was achieving 900-1GB per my plan. I read somewhere that the current firmware for the SB33 might be the issue. How can I force an update? Please help.
