routing questions double nat

Our systems wireless router Model: TG4482A is the end of our equipment. since iit has a fire wall and its internal ip is 10.0.0.1 i assume it is using nat???

Looking at the trace below the route continues on to another private ip address "not ours".  and since it continues to the public ip i assume it uses nat also since 10.x.x.x is not routable publicly. Can someone clarify this as to whats going on?

also we got [Edited: Language] speeds please fix it, as thats what prompted me to write so two birds with one stone affect LOL

Hello user_281b0b  thanks so much for the ping trace data! Not seeing a ton of packet loss between these hops, so that's encouraging! Yes, we do utilize Network Address Translation(NAT) as pretty much every commercial modem/router does. The hops you see are moving through our network out to the open web.

Regarding the speed issues, how often are these happening? Is this just affecting the one device tested above, or multiple throughout the home?  Have you had a chance to review our knowledge base article on internet troubleshooting?

Thanks for your answer , that was quick, though im a little unclear about the double nat, perhas i didn't ask it clearly. ok  using the ip's in the ping trace. 10.0.0.1 Model: TG4482A  is our edge. I assume it is using NAT. thats one nat. it then appears to hop to  10.61.243.130 which is an Xfinity controled/owned equipment and must be another NAT.

So my Question is by the time i get a packet or send a packet its allready gone or going to go thru 2 NAT's? or basiclly double nat.?

Thank You Again

Rob

user_281b0b our network does not utilize more than one NAT protocol, even as it moves from the modem back to our headend, and then out to the open web.  We'd be more than happy to assist in diagnosing any speed or intermittent connection issues you're experiencing.
