router

can a home have two xfinity routers being used? or would it need to be one xfinity router and one from somewhere else like best buy or amazon. i have a split network circuit and i thought getting a second xfinity router would work but it's just asking me to basically use it as the primary and to return the old one.

Most local markets will not allow two modems / combo gateway devices to be used at one address. It's best to contact customer support to see what the local policy is. Even if they do allow it you would have to pay for two accounts (twice what you are paying for HSI now).

It's not just a matter of the brand / origin of the router, it's the service. You would need an additional ISP.

Google for "vLAN" and see if that may be what you need.
