Router change password

I need to change the username and password for my home router. I need assistance. I know i have to go into the app
Wifi-View Equipment -Advanced settings - Gateway Tool Admin - Allow access

Then I have to go on my browser to hrrp://10.0.0.1 and place in username and password. I am on my phone and i have safari and google. I am unable to get to this step. Do I have to be in my home in order to do this?

user_kinim0 Good morning, and thank you for reaching out to our Xfinity Forums. Yes, you can change it through the Xfinity App. If you go to "Wi-Fi" details, and then select "Edit WiFi Settings" this is where you can make changes to your network. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!

@XfinityKassie Hello, I went on to the app and went into the wifi and then toggled on the tools. (Xfinity app → tap WiFi → tap your network → Advanced Settings → look for "Admin Tool Online Access" or similar → turn it on. )

Then tried logging in to 10.0.0.1 on safari and when it finally showed the page with the user name and password i put in what I was told in the chat which would be
admin   /    password as the credentials and it did not work. Told me incorrect information

Then I tried a second time logging in to 10.0.0.1 on safari and used the information that the same chat person sent me to print out for instructions and that told me to use

admin  /  the password on the bottom of the router. So I did and that did not work either.

Neither user / passwords provided by Comcast worked. Please assist

Hello, @user_kinim0 thank you for the additional information that is helpful. So the default username and password would be the one that is on the Xfinity gateway, that would be correct. It would only work if you hadn't previously changed that information, so if you updated that the only way the default password/username would be recognized is if the device has a factory reset performed.

- Did you previously change the network username or password?
- Have you recently done a factory reset of the equipment, and the default information isn't working?
