Restarting Gateway

I have to restart my Gateway several times a day. If I'm streaming it starts buffering then kicks me out of the show with a message "Oops something went wrong, try again." If I try to do something online I get asked to check my connection which always shows I'm connected. I can't even get into the Xfinity app. I have to restart my phone, then sign in to Xfinity and restart the Gateway.  That takes care of the issue for about an hour and a half to two hours then it's starts all over again. It's very, very frustrating.

Are these WiFi connections ? If so, for a test, does a computer / device that is hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an ethernet cable have the same problem ?


With this test, we are trying to isolate this from being either a WiFi-only problem or a problem with the general connection to the Comcast system which would of course affect both. It's a good first step of troubleshooting before proceeding any further.
