Request to verify upstream provisioning and config file — customer-owned CM2050V
Hello — I'm requesting a specific technical verification, not general speed troubleshooting. I've already ruled out the common causes on my end.
My setup:
Netgear CM2050V, firmware v10.01.03 (the build Netgear released for mid-split support)
Grandfathered triple play plan with two Xfinity Voice lines
No amplifiers in the coax path
What my modem's diagnostics currently show:
4 upstream ATDMA channels at 16.4 / 22.8 / 29.2 / 35.6 MHz
1 upstream OFDMA channel, Locked, at 36.2 MHz
1 downstream OFDM channel locked at 900 MHz
Upstream transmit power 49.3–50.5 dBmV
My OFDMA carrier is at 36.2 MHz, which is inside the legacy 5–42 MHz band. That indicates my modem is being served a sub-split configuration.
Why that doesn't match my address: When I check service availability at my address, symmetrical 2 Gbps (X-Class) is offered. Since Comcast has publicly stated that DOCSIS 4.0 FDX is implemented on top of mid-split and the two coexist, my node's upstream plant should already be provisioned to 5–85 MHz.
My three questions:
What upstream speed value is my account currently provisioned for, independent of my equipment? My plan is a legacy triple play, and I want to confirm whether it carries a pre-mid-split upstream cap.
Is the boot file being served to my CM MAC a sub-split or mid-split configuration file? Please check the actual config file, not the model listed on my account page.
Is the Netgear CM2050V currently on the Next Gen Speed Tier list for my market? I'm aware it was approved, then removed pending a firmware fix, and I'd like its current status confirmed rather than inferred from the general compatibility list.
I'd also appreciate a note on my upstream transmit power — 49.3–50.5 dBmV is above the recommended ceiling and I'd like to know whether that warrants a line check.
If the answer is that my node is mid-split but the CM2050V will not be provisioned for it, please tell me that directly so I can decide between replacing the modem and moving to X-Class with leased equipment. I'm not asking for a plan change on this contact — I'm asking for these three facts so I can make an informed decision.
My HFC MAC is on the label of the modem and I can provide it along with my full name and service address.

Hello @Jdpg2, thank you for taking the time to leave a post. Sorry for the frustration and uncertainty this situation has caused. We appreciate the time you took to document your equipment, channel readings, upstream power levels, and the specific information you’re requesting. We’d be happy to review the account and equipment details available to us. For your privacy and the security of your account, if you could send our team a direct message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, we'd be more than happy to look into this for you.
