Reporting incorrect reverse DNS

Hi folks. This is about as low-priority as they come, but I am reporting that the reverse DNS records for IPv4 and IPv6 addresses at my location are wrong, and have been for the 2 years that I have lived at this house. My IP address, as well as those of the first several of the various routers in the Comcast network (CRAN?), all contain the name "murfreesboro". That is a town that is a good hour away by car, maybe 60-65 miles. It's in the next county over.  I have posted v4 and v6 traceroutes below that show the names. Just a heads up if this can ever make it to anyone in the infrastructure/DNS teams. Thanks!

traceroute to gmail.com (64.233.185.19), 30 hops max, 46 byte packets
1  10.61.218.2 (10.61.218.2)  12.132 ms
2  po-307-322-rur202.murfreesboro.tn.nash.comcast.net (68.86.195.137)  10.194 ms
3  po-200-xar01.murfreesboro.tn.nash.comcast.net (162.151.95.17)  10.052 ms

Hello again T_W ! Hope you are well !! FWIW. Hop #2 (the CMTS) at the headend facility / bldg. may actually be located in Murfreesboro. So may hop #3 (the first Comcast regional CRAN router). Just sayin'. Is the rDNS correct for your actual public / WAN IP address ?

Hey bud doing alright thanks, hope you are as well. What you say is absolutely correct, it could be, it just seems a bit out of the way geographically speaking. I'm in Franklin, a suburb of Nashville, the capital of TN. Murfreesboro is a smaller city than Franklin, and it would seem that going from here to Nashville would be far less distance. My public WAN IP also says Murfreesboro. Anyways like I said, low priority. Thanks for the reply, take care around here!

@train_wreck

These days, there are many facilities called "Super Headends". They are fewer and farther between compared to the old days of many local headends. They are fiber backhaul, so distance is not a factor.

Scroll down to Super Headend;

Nope no issues Kei. Just curious why my reverse DNS says I'm in a town an hour+ away.

@train_wreck Glad to hear there are no issues with your service. It's not uncommon to see this due to traffic flow etc.
