repeated speed throttling
For more than a decade now I have always had the top speed offered. I only get that speed for a week or two at a time. I regularly reboot my router (to refresh the available ip addresses) and the problem is NOT my equipment.
Every time I notice speed drops, like when my kids can't play video games or my connection drops while working from home, I put in a request for a tech to come out. Within hours, an xfinity van shows up on my street and someone climbs the pole a few houses down from me and my service is magically restored to the speed I'm paying for.
I live in a touristy area and the problem is definitely worse in the off season. It always happens right after I get a new ip address recycled from random nearby states. Sometimes before the ip address changes there's a text warning me that they'll be doing work in my area and I might experience an outage. Rarely get a full outage, just the throttling. I have no way of knowing if these things are actually related, but the timing always lines up. Not the end of the world, but super annoying. Wish there was a way to fix it through the online account like the signal check feature that didn't require physically sending a human out to climb a pole.
