Rented Modem

What is the service life of a rented modem? Should it be replaced if it's been in use for several years?

That's a great question. Our devices are good for many years, in certain instances where we do have an end of life equipment you will be notified via email/letter and will ship out a new equipment to you. In the event that you experience issues and need to replace it for any reason, we can always get that swapped out for a new one at a service center or we can get one shipped to you.

@ComcastGabby

If Comcast has upgraded modems, will it advise current renters so that we can exchange our rented modem for a better performing one? Renters should have the best modem available.

If the our system finds that you are using a End of Life modem, you will be emailed about a replacement, if available. Some modems are meant specifically for gigabit. Any speeds slower will used a different model.

I no longer work for Comcast.
