I have a splitter in my comcast box outside that one port feeds my modem and the other port did feed the cable tv which i dont have now. Can i remove the splitter and go straight to my modem and improve my internet speeds? Thanks in advance.

Yes. I can't say for sure that it will improve your "speeds", but it will improve your RF signal strength to the modem which may in turn, improve your speeds / connection quality.

There is one. It is being bypassed by the splitter at present.

You should look at your current modem diagnostics and power level. The initial installer probably set the power correctly for both with the splitter in place. You aren't going to help it if the levels are already correct and you aren't having high error levels. Or if your speed currently hits the level you pay for.

A tech can only set signal a certain way is with simulators or attenuators or extra unnecessary splitters, which doesn’t seem to be the case here. And the equipment isn’t set to one particular number a range of signal levels is used. The OP is talking about a 2 way splitter so the change in signal will be minimal as opposed to a 4way splitter.

It is a 2 way splitter. The tech bypassed the grounding block splitter when he added it.
