Recurring Internet Outage

It's not that the internet connectivity just goes out, it ruins the entire experience! You can't enjoy a show if you have to keep reloading the Flex box and waiting for the wifi to connect. Furthermore, as a web developer, i rely on constant connectivity. Over the past several days, the internet has gone out intermittently. this results in the need to restart applications which greatly impacts productivity and MY bottom line. this is unacceptable. it is now nearly midnight and I have been stuggling with this since 8pm. That's four hours of nonsense that I could have spent on other things. and it's still NOT ON! now i have to go back to the remote, and check that again, and reload the application which was streaming the tv show. it's ridiculous. that's not entertainment. that's the opposite of pleasure.

here we go again.

the failed SSH is an attempt to connect to a system on my LAN. i'll have to investigate what is the matter here, caused by the outage. both systems are connected via Ethernet to the Xfinity router. The outage affects LAN connectivity nevertheless.

If you want to look at internet connection issues yourself I always start here:

https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/internet-troubleshooting-tips/602dae4ac5375f08cde52ea0

Look at signal power/SNR/errors on the gateway and see if you are in spec and what the error logs are telling you.  Hard to guess.

Everything hanging off your coax especially splitters and amplifiers, unterminated ports on a splitter, the connectors themselves, and even bad coax can be a potential noise injector.  Signals drift over time as well.

If you can get to the wiring from where it enters the structure, try a straight run to the gateway/modem for a test and look at the signals and errors again.  See if it's any better.

@jsabarese

First. When these outages occur are they being officially indicated here with any info about them ?;

https://www.xfinity.com/support/status

Use a cell phone internet service, a public WiFi hotspot, or a neighbor's internet if you need to in order to check it.

Or you can use the Xfinity App: https://www.xfinity.com/apps
