recurring, intermittent internet service interruptions

I am experiencing recurring, intermittent internet service interruptions that have been happening for approximately two months.

The interruptions are random and affect all devices in my home simultaneously, including multiple laptops and mobile phones.

For example, when I am on a video call or watching a video on my laptop, the connection suddenly freezes. At the same time, my phone also loses internet connectivity. The interruption typically lasts anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes, after which service automatically resumes.

I use an Xfinity-provided gateway/router. I have tried rebooting it regularly, even daily. This seems to reduce the frequency somewhat, but it has not resolved the problem.

I have already tried troubleshooting through the Xfinity app. Unfortunately, its automated diagnostics are not useful because the interruptions are brief and unpredictable.

I am requesting that a human technical support representative investigate this as a recurring service interruption, rather than simply walk me through another router reboot.

Specifically, I would like Xfinity to:

  1. Review the modem/gateway signal levels, connection history, and error logs to identify intermittent drops.

  2. Check for possible signal or line problems between my home and the neighborhood network.

  3. Determine whether there are any known network issues affecting my area.

  4. Arrange a technician visit if necessary to inspect the incoming cable connection and equipment.

  5. Replace the gateway if testing indicates that it may be defective.

This has been an ongoing problem for two months, and I would appreciate having it properly investigated and resolved.

Hi there, @user_elkk5u I completely understand how frustrating it must be to have your connection randomly drop across all your devices, especially when this has been happening for two months. We’d like to investigate this further with you rather than have you keep repeating the same troubleshooting. Please send us a DM with your full name and service address.

Here are the detailed steps to direct message us:
• Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Direct Message” icon (upper right corner of this page)
• Click the "Start new conversation" (pencil and paper) icon
• Type "Xfinity Support" in the "to" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
• Press Enter to send your message
You must use the primary Xfinity ID
