Re: Ethernet Works But WiFi Does Not
mine is set for automatic. Tech support says my IP address is good. Do I need a static IP address assigned?

Just for a test, check to see if you are actually connected to wifi on the device:
windows --> cmd (prompt) -- type ipconfig /all
linux shell --> ifconfig
Does the IP address look reasonable for your internal network? Not something strange like the default windows 169.x.x.x with no gateway or no ipaddress at all (linux).
If it does, try forgetting the wifi network, then rejoin. If you reset your gateway recently, there might be a problem with a cached key mismatch and it's not really joined. And if it's windows, when in doubt, reboot 🙂

On your device connecting to WiFi but failing to have Internet access, you might look at its WiFi settings to see if it has DNS servers assigned. If the WiFi setting for DNS is auto, you should have 75.75.75.75 and/or 75.75.76.76 as addresses. If the setting is manual, you have to enter DNS server addresses manually, whether you want to use the Xfinity, Google or other addresses.
Also, is there a Gateway address assigned in the WiFi settings?

If you are using a Comcast supplied gateway device, be advised that you can't enter the DNS "manually". DNS can not be altered period.
