Purchasing my own modem, problem with cable boxes?
I have an XB6 now and I was considering buying my own Arris T25 and TP Link router. I see on the Xfinity app my Arris XG1v4 4K cable box connects via Moca. It does not look like the T25 has Moca. Will this be a problem for watching cable on that box?
My other cable boxes are the Arris Xi6. I have them connected Ethernet, not Wi-Fi. Will those be a problem using an Arris T25 instead of the Xfinity Gateway?
If I decide to keep the gateway and use my own router, will there be any problems with any of my cable boxes if I set the gateway to bridge mode?
I’d like to have my own modem and router but if it’s going to affect my cable boxes I guess I’ll keep the XB6.

The Xi6 boxes DO work with my Arris T25 I installed this weekend. I had to reboot them after the modem/router were setup. After they go to sleep and power back on they will show just a black screen, but this can be resolved by changing the channel up/down. After powered on, the Xi6 boxes work fine with my own modem.

The XG1v4 is a standalone box and does not need a modem to work. The Xi6's may be an issue as they use the XG1v4 tuners and DVR. The XG1 talks to the gateway via MoCA, and the Xi6's via Ethernet/WiFi. They typically will not work with a user-owned modem/router. At the minimum, you may want to see if you can upgrade your gateway from the XB6 to the XB7 or XB8.

Port forwarding has been broken for weeks. If they’d fix it I wouldn’t even be considering buying my own modem and router. That’s two tickets created and a whole other story.
I figured the XG would work and that the XI would communicate via the Moca from the XG, not the gateway. What happens if I put my gateway in bridge mode and use router? Do I lose XI boxes that way too?
