Ps5 wifi/ethernet LAN not working

I've been having a lot of connection problems with my Ps5. At first the internet was having some minor problems, but then after an extended period of time not playing on it, it suddenly dipped out on me, only coming back on for very short periods of time (Like 5 minutes). The xfinity "Xfi" app dashboard says that the the device is connected and the Ps5 is fully up to date with it's software. The internet for other devices is fine.

Recently we tried looking further into the network issues and the Ps5 keeps saying “Can't connect to the internet. Your internet service provider or your router might be preventing your PS5 from connecting to the internet.". It also kept acting as if im using hotel wifi and asks for authentication on the network, even though its LAN.

 We've tried practically everything. We've factory reset the Ps5 and the router, we directly connected the Ps5 ethernet to the wall instead of a the ethernet port. We don't use an exclusively IPv6 address either.

Please help

Were you able to fix this issue? I have the exact same problem.

I am having this issue as well. Online play has always randomly disconnected since being in the service and now my ps5 can’t access anything unless I reboot it and then it shortly loses connection, even though it is still connected to my router

Hey there @user_w47qx6 so sorry to hear about the frustrations on the new PS5 console. Have you attempted establishing a port forward via the Xfinity App and double-checking network connection settings?  Are you suing a personal modem or leasing equipment from us?

Hello @user_fcu2vf. Please manually restart your router by unpluggin ghte power cord and plugging it back in. This will establish a fresh connection.

I’m having the same issue, hasn’t been able to start an online lobby for any game in 11 days. Never had this issue before. All other devices in the household work fine. I used wifi and switched to Ethernet and still, nothing. Did a system reset on the ps5 and router

@user_8zkbxa

Please create a new topic of your own here on this board detailing your issue. Thanks. The original poster has not returned. 4-month-old dead thread is now being closed.

For future reference, it is better to submit your own post as it creates a ticket to get help, and posting on someone else's older thread can delay getting help.
