PS5 Connection Issues
I've tried to troubleshoot this with ChatGPT, but I still can't get things to work cleanly.
I switched to Xfinity a few months ago and started having this problem. It took a while for me to put the two together. When I'm on the PS5, I never lose the full connection. If I'm in a game, I will stay in the game, but some of the Playstation services stop working - Store, Friends, Messages, Invites. I don't drop from the games, but these stop working completely.
I usually run a wired connection straight from the XER10 Router/gateway - the white tower. I tried switching to wifi - same issue. I tried adding port forwarding - same issue. I have tried multiple DNS settings - same issue. We have two PS5s in the house - both do the same exact thing - only since switching.
If I go to "Test Network Connection" it refreshes everything and I get it all back. Temporarily - then after a while, I lose those certain parts of the connection. It can happen in only a couple minutes or after 30 or more, so it's not like it's a timeout. Plus it happens while in games, although I stay in the games.
I've also tried unplugging the PS5 for a while, resetting the router and a bunch of other things, but the same pattern always happens. Also, I am using NAT2.
ChatGPT suggested asking if my XER10 has the latest firmware or if others have had similar issues. I have read a some of the playstation posts from the forums, but didn't see this exact problem.
Is there something else I can try? From what I've researched it sounds like the multiple IPv4 and IPv6 can cause issues, but the Xfinity app doesn't allow you to change much to test these things.
Core issue - loss of some PS5 online services, but not the full connection and they can be revived from testing the network connection, but it's only temporary and may last as little as only a few minutes.
