Provisioning versus Reset

Are they the same thing?

When the automated system sends a reset signal. Is it reprovisioning?

No, it is not. It's just a remote power cycle of your modem operation and reloading of the modem's firmware load. It does not change / correct any of their backhaul database provisioning data.

No.

A Reset or 'Sending of a reset signal' is essentially a remote restart or cycle off then on' sort of like you unplugging then reapplying power.

Provisioning is the reseting of the default configuration for the ISP's service. Typically for cable providers, this includes recording of one's cable modem's MAC or hardware address and copying a json or other configuration file to the cable modem that connects your location to their service.

is there a possibility that re-provisioning a modem could sever a modem with a weak downlink signal? I've been offered to have them re provision, but am afraid it may cause more problems. at least right now im getting packet loss but i am getting by working remotely. i would be in big trouble if they couldn't get me reconnected because i have to work through team viewer.
