Problems Connecting Generac Generator to Router
My generator lost connection to the router, and even with Generac tech support I was not able to restore my connection. The tech person suggested that Xfinity has some limitations that were inferring with the connection. I don't know what those might be, but I would like to solve the problem. Without internet access, I don't get status updates sent to my phone. Has anyone had issues with Generac generators having difficulty with Xfinity routers, and how did you solve the problem?

Hey there in case it helps had a couple questions to narrow down what's possibly going on here.. This is WIFI to the generator interface that's dropped connection? If so several items to check to see what's behind the issue. First off, stand next to the generator and try and connect another device using WIFI to see if the signal is within parameters and authentication with WIFI is good to go. If connected easily with separate device, try the generator interface and set up the WIFI connection again. This might fix the issue or maybe not. If not, has it been confirmed that there is power to the WIFI router?
Realize this may be a remote set up so taking a trip out to troubleshoot may not be the most convenient but hands on visual inspection may be in order. Unless its possible to remote in (access via internet) to the router, confirm all is well and ping the generator on the network to see if the WIFI router sees the device and its just authentication or network set up issue..
Oh and in case this theory is off base and the generator is not connected via WIFI plan B would be to check hardwired connection and see what the signal looks like. If there is a hardwire option that would be the preferred way to go to avoid interruptions..
Just my .2 cents.
Thanks and good luck.

Thanks for your response. I think there should be a strong enough signal because I have a security camera above the generator, and it uses the same router. Now the generator has a noise-dampening enclosure that possibly is reducing the signal. A range extender is an option I suppose, but I would like to be sure that is the issue before I invest in a range extender. Also, the signal worked for about seven months, and now it doesn't.

Hmmm, if the cameras got good signal and the generator sitting right next to them doesn't, need to check interface and see what's going on with set up.
Encountered the same issue with WIFI controlled thermostat that occasionally would drop signal connection but it would always come back...
When you configure, set up, the generator interface to connect to the WIFI network what happens? Error? Timeout?
When you remote into the WIFI config, (192.168.1.1 on the same network from web browser) do you see the generator on the network and or trying to connect?
Thanks and good luck
