Privacy warning

We are getting new warnings on our devices, a privacy warning.  It is explained by the iPhone that the router, which is an xfinity router, is blocking encrypted DNS traffic.

How can this privacy issue be fixed?

Thank you for reaching out @user_d3p1jg. I am sorry you are getting this warning. Can you send a picture of the error messages you are getting? Is this only on iPhone?

kidordinn Hello and thank you for reaching out to Xfinity. We understand your concern regarding the privacy warning on your iPhone related to encrypted DNS traffic.

At Xfinity, we value our customers' privacy and are committed to providing a secure and reliable internet experience.

  • Regarding Encrypted DNS:

    • Some Xfinity routers may have default settings that might impact the use of encrypted DNS services.
    • We are always working to enhance our network and improve customer experiences.
  • Troubleshooting Steps:

    • Check for Router Firmware Updates: Ensure your Xfinity router is running the latest firmware version. This can often address compatibility issues and improve performance. You can usually find firmware updates through the router's web interface or the Xfinity app.
    • Manual DNS Configuration: If updating the firmware doesn't resolve the issue, you can manually configure your devices (like your iPhone) to use a preferred DNS service that supports encryption.
      • Instructions for configuring DNS settings on your iPhone can be found in the device's support documentation.

Please reach out if you have any other questions or concerns. Our team of experts is here to help.

Not sure if my issue is related or not. I've been using a preferred service for years and the last couple days, have been getting disconnected. After going through trouble shooting equipment and settings, the only way I have been able to stay connected was to remove my manual DNS settings and allow DNS to establish through DHCP which will of course connect to Xfinity/Comcast (whoever you are) DNS servers.
