Power Outage Question

I recently placed a UPS power supply with my modem plugged in. We had a power outage a few weeks ago. The ups works fine but all I had was a blinking orange light on my modem. We had another "local" outage the other day that lasted 6 hours. The modem went to blinking orange light ( a sure sign it had power ), but alas, no Internet. I'm confused. These were not major power outages and I still had no internet even though the modem was powered. What am I missing?.

Hey, @user_1bad43. Thanks for posting on our community forums. I'm sorry to hear about the disconnection. Are you currently experiencing a disconnection? Did you try rebooting the modem manually or through the app?

I had a similar issue when I added a UPS.  I had totally forgotten about the Commscope Amplifies Xfinity installed in the basement - it's powered too.   I originally connected the incoming line to the cable modem line with a barrel connector which allowed the modem to connect.  Eventually I added a small UPS in the basement too.  Everything works fine now during power outages that don't last longer than the UPS batteries.

Your answer gave me the answer. This is something similar on my system that gives the system low voltage power through the coax line. It was not on the UPS side of the equation. It is now and the modem works now while on UPS. Thanks !!!
