port forwarding

I have gone throught the steps outlined to forward a port through the xFi application.  It doesn't appear to be working.  A test of open ports indicates it is still closed and I am unable to access the application on that port.

Welcome to the club, this has apparently been an issue for YEARS at this point. And considering any post I find where anyone actually attempts to talk to anyone about it they refer them to a private conversation despite this being a public forum to, ya know, find help for everyone, I suspect they're fixing it for specific people and leaving it broken for everyone else for some probably money saving cost. I'm assuming the worst because I expect the worst with an issue this long standing, but obviously I got no actual clue. Simply put though they've refused to fix it for, as said, years, and you'll find many posts just like this one without solutions.

I also have ports forwarded in my xfinity app, various applications to monitor my connection say a connection was attempted but failed DESPITE claiming it expected it to be open.
So yeah, the [Edited: "Profanity"] app they forced everyone to move too and it's services just don't work for port forwarding anymore, far as 99% of people can tell.
You'd think it'd at least work for people paying for the premium plans, but nope.

No, they're not fixing it for some people. They just tell you to follow the steps in the article, (which we've all done), and then tell you to reinstall the app, and then restart the router, and then turn off advanced security, and then try again, and after awhile you just give up and xfinity doesn't care. Truly laughable, if it wasn't so frustrating.

So i've gone through customer support and here is how it is.

I have a residential diamond account, paying over 100 bucks a month with unlimited data for 'Just' the internet, not counting TV and etc. Used to be a simple IPv4 IP Address.
However they forcibly changed the way it works so it uses IPv6 and a Dynamic IP Now, we've had Xfinity for like 13 years mind you. I used to be able to port forward/host no problem.
You can only host with a Static IP(according to actual person customer support), and according to the customer support that requires a Business Account.

They had to redirect me to another phoneline/department for me to talk with who can handle the Buisness Account changes and side of things.
To change 'Just' the internet to a business account, it costs over 100 dollars MORE a month then what we're already paying, and theres no other way to get a Static IP.

So they took away a feature everyone already had through their service, and are now demanding 100 or more dollars for it.
Absolute scalpers.

@coupe774 Thank you for making us aware you're having difficulties setting up the port forwarding through the app. I would be more than happy to help figure out a solution to this problem you're having. Are you getting some sort of error message when you complete the steps?
