Port forwarding
Issue related to the IP addressing and port forwarding in the router. With the computer set to dynamic IP, the router assigns the IP to the computer and this shows up in the device details in the router. This also shows up when one enables port forwarding. All is good and working correctly. The involved computer had a failure that needed a bios refresh to recover. After this, the router would assign a different IP to this computer and the port forwarding would NOT work. Using IPconfig, the computer ip address last octet WAS 172 and now is 173. The details screen in the router still show it as 172, but in the computer it is 173. Removing the computer from the network to allow it to be in the not connected list allows one to select the "forget device" in the router making it go away. Connecting the computer back should now show up as a new entry with the correct address, but it still shows as 172, with the computer as 173. The data in the router remains and does not clear. Is ther a way to clear the data in the router so the IP Address will update? for now we had set the address in the computer to 172, but it would be better to be able to do this correctly.
HOW DOI EDIT THE IP ADDRESS OR RESET THE LIST?

Go into your router settings and find the range of IP addresses. ex 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.260
make/assign your computer a static IP address really high up in the range, say 255. set your port forwarding to the new static ip address for your PC and you should be set.

We know how to set it up, but do not want to do static.
This is USUALLY easy, simply connect the device and when the router connects and assigns an ip, enable port forwarding.
Problem is you select by device, not by ip.
The router has 172 in its device table. But it assigns 173.
We have it as static now and it works fine, just need to keep dns addresses up to date.
