Port Forwarding Closing

Port forwarding has closed our open Port and now is not working to reconnect. Nothing has changed with the computer used to Port forward. We had a ton of issues even getting it to work and now it's just randomly closed.

Sebw31 Thank you for reaching out via our Xfinty Community Forums. We understand how frustrating it is when a port forward randomly closes. This is a known hiccup with the Xfinity Gateway that often relates to how your device's IP address is managed.

Here’s the fastest fix to try right now:

  1. Delete the Old Rule: Go to the Port Forwarding section in the Xfinity app and delete the closed rule.

  2. Power Cycle: Unplug your Xfinity Gateway for 60 seconds, then plug it back in. This forces it to sync with the latest settings.

  3. Re-add the Rule: Use the app to re-add the port forward to your device.

Pro Tip: Check that the device you're forwarding to is set to DHCP (Automatic IP), not a static IP, in your computer's network settings.

If this doesn't work, send us a Direct Message with your your full name and address, and our team can provide deeper troubleshooting!
