pop up ads taking over screen
These pop ups suddenly began taking over screen. The first one is "dear xifinity customer..." Attemting to back out of it goes to a repeating cycle of screens .....
I cannot find anything about this on any other forum. I have not added any software nor visit suspicious sites. This is fairly new thing happening. I would like to know if anyone has any answers.

It sounds like you have a browser hijacker at work, although it could be some other kind of malware. Suggest you check in with https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/22/virus-trojan-spyware-and-malware-removal-help/.
There are lots of similar images of this scam, for example this one that was posted on Reddit: https://preview.redd.it/f0w24ol62wx71.jpg?width=960&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=ea73fc7975c7cdd70e2d4e87dadbbda580a2fbf6.
