Poor Wi-Fi speeds

Hi there,  my name is Sam. I am having issues with my Wifi connection. I am not getting 1000mb, I am getting way below that. On average I get maybe 400-600mb on the wifi. My latest speedtest is 200-350MB on the 5 ghz network. I am 20 feet away from the router. I have a M1 Pro MacBook Pro that should be capable of 1200 MB speeds. My Xbox, which is connected to ethernet, is getting 1000+ MB, which is great. I live in a brick townhome, with other close brick townhomes complex in my vacinity.

I'm getting the same problem for the past few days.  I'm supposed to be on the 800 speed...but I can barely get a signal on my new tablet lately...unless I'm in the same room as the modem...and my modem is only about two years old.  I even tried resetting it.  It makes no sense.

Thanks for reaching out to us, as a customer myself I do know how important it is to have the speed plan I'm paying for. Via awesome Xfinity app https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/internet-connectivity-troubleshooting you can run troubleshooting steps to make sure the speed coming to your modem is coming in at the plan you pay for.

Are these gateway devices, meaning both modem and Router with WiFi?  Are they separate devices?  What models of devices are they?  Are any devices provided through Xfinity?  The fact that you are getting proper speeds to your wired  Xbox indicates it is a WiFi issue and not an Xfinity network issue.  When you search for Wireless Networks do you see a strong signal from others?  WiFi speeds will not be as high as wireless but should be at least 70 to 80 percent if you are within a few feet of WiFi source.

I am aware it is a WiFi issue as I indicated above, however, It is through an Xfinity provided gateway device with both modem and WiFi. The Xbox is directly connected to this device. The gateway device is an Xb7 model from Arris group. I just got it within past 3 months. I am 10 feet from this device now and only get 500MB/s speed on a 5GhZ WiFi network.

Hello user_lka376 thank you for taking the time to reach out regarding these Wi-Fi connection issues you're experiencing. The fact that the Xbox is getting at or above 100% when on ethernet is a good sign, as this shows that we are getting the right speeds to the modem. Is the M1 MacBook Pro the only device with this issue over Wi-Fi, or are other devices also getting below-expected speeds? Have you had an opportunity to check our Internet Knowledgebase?
