pod won't come online

I have two 2nd gen pods. light in center blinks. I use the ap to activate, thinks for 5 min and won't connect. I tried putting the pod 10" away with same result. with both pods... had a tech check it out and declared them inoperative ... Both at the same time? Why? I think maybe some other issue... Help!!
