Peplink B-One

I've been considering upgrading my network, but my main concerns are security and speed. I've had my eyes on Peplink's new B one device but I don't think it's compatible with Xfinity. I don't see any Peplink devices in the approved devices list so I was wondering if there are any workarounds? I don't care much for my ISP having a backdoor with my current Xfinity device, lol. I have 500 Mbps Down and 100 Mbps Up under the "fast" plan. I have the xFi Gateway so anything would be an improvement. Ideally, I'd like to have a SOHO device that doesn't spy on my network and doesn't have security flaws. Any Suggestions?

That device is a router. They don't classify routers, only straight cable modems and combination modem / router gateway devices. Any stand-alone router can be used on Comcast as long as it is connected to an approved cable modem or a gateway device that is in bridge mode. If you are using a Comcast rented gateway device, you would need to put it into bridge mode and connect the Peplink to it via an ethernet cable. Or you can stop renting the Comcast device and use any approved third-party retail purchased straight cable modem.

Good evening @NoahW, and thank you for reaching out on our Community Forums with your modem inquiry. I understand having speed and security as your main concern, those are always concerns for me as well so I understand where you are coming from. Unfortunately, there are no workarounds for modems that are not compatible with XFINITY services. To find an approved modem, I have included the following link to assist https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/list-of-approved-cable-modems. Please let us know if you have any questions.
