Paused devices still accessible to wifi

I scheduled my childrens' devices to be paused from 12 am - 7 am, and although the Xfinity app shows they're paused, they are indeed not! I've noticed other customers have raised concern about this issue, but to my knowledge, Xfinity has failed to provide a solution.

As a side note, the xfinitywifi Hotspot is disabled, so they aren't accessing the internet through that.

I switched from one of your competitors in hopes that you could offer me the same level of confidence and peace of mind to help monitor and limit accessibility, but the pause feature simply isn't working as it was designed.

Can someone provide a solution to this issue?

While I'm fully aware of how the feature is supposed to work, it simply wasn't working. I contacted Xfinity and they indicated my modem wasn't working properly, so they sent a new modem. The feature is now working with the new modem.

Same issue with me. I even removed devices from my home network wifi connection, but they still were able to connect again.

Good morning, @Acnnaib, and thanks for reaching out through our Community Forums page for help with the Xfinity App and pausing WiFi access on your kids' devices! Having two teenagers of my own, I love using this feature to help keep their sleep schedules a little closer to on track during the school week. That said, I can understand your concerns about seeing devices connected after the Pause time has passed.

Pausing a device blocks it from accessing the Internet when connected to your home network. In-progress activity might not stop immediately. Access to local network devices (like printers) and connections that use cellular data or other WiFi networks won't be paused.

The Pause function only pauses WiFi access on your home network and does not impact access to using cellular data, a public Xfinity WiFi hotspot (both XFINITY and xfinitywifi, which you cannot disable) or other available WiFi networks. When attempting to access the Internet on a paused device, the user will see the device's default message that the site cannot be reached or that it is not connected to the Internet.

If you disconnect their device(s) at the assigned Pause time, they should not be able to reconnect until the assigned wakeup time on those devices. I hope this helps with any confusion on how this feature is designed. I love the Xfinity App and all the benefits it offers for control over our in-home network, including the advanced security that keeps my kids safe while they're online. Please let us know if you have any additional questions we can help with. Thanks for being part of the Comcast family, and have a wonderful day!
