Paused devices can't communicate in Home Network

I just got an upgraded gateway and now if I pause my Cloud I can't access it through my Home Network. The older Gateway allowed me to pause my Cloud from internet access and still be able to access it through File Explorer. I would prefer that the Cloud is only accessible through my network and internet accessible only if I unpause the device. How do I set up the new gateway to allow a paused device to still be available on My Network. I am able to pause my desktop computer and still access it locally but I am unable to do the same thing with my cloud NAS.

I solved the issue by going back to the older gateway. I discovered that the new modem wouldn't recognize my printer either. Once I got the older modem initialized the printer worked and I was able to pause the NAS and still access it through my local network. This is the second time I've tried the newer gateway with both times having the same issues.

Hi! Thank you for sending in your concerns to us about the new upgrade you got but not able to access a paused device. I love this feature so I totally get your concerns. So, the cloud NAS is this your third party device for backing up and archiving?

Yes, I keep most of my files on the MYCloud NAS so I can access them from anyone of my computers. Before the new modem/gateway I could pause MYCloud and still access it through File Explorer. I prefer to deny internet access to MYCloud but still need to access. It would be nice not to have to Pause/Unpause all the time.

Sorry for the delay. I'm researching your situation to see what I can find out that may help. When disabling the device from the gateway, it should only affect it's access to the internet but not your local access to it. Were any settings for the MYCloud needed to be changed to access the new gateway by chance?

No, just plugged it in and as long as it is not paused I can access it. My older cloud is the same way.

It is my understanding that there is no way to change the pausing capabilities of your modem to show the different devices as available in your home network without internet access. Did you previously have two separate bands: 2.4GHz and 5GHz?

Yes, and still have both. Thinking of going back to the old gateway.

@dvowens NAS is remote storage that is accessed over the internet as if it is local. You should not have been able to access it previously without a connection.
