Paused Device still connecting
I’ve seen this question asked numerous times and I’ve yet to see any real resolution.
We have multiple devices that are paused on our network still connected.
So here we are, with numerous random people connecting to our WiFi and I can’t kick them off because I don’t have access to their phones/devices.
If I change my WiFi information as long as they are given the new information (my neighbor who rents from us hands our WiFi information out to everyone and anyone, even people she doesn’t know or allow in her home)
What can I do about this?
Why are these devices that are paused still able to connect to our network?
I read in a previously answered question that iPhones and most new phone models have a setting where they automatically generate an anonymous VPN, bypassing the pause feature without even having to think about it.
So what I’m reading is this “Pause Device” feature does not work and I know from experience IF it does, it notifies the person who is paused “Your device is paused on this wifi network”
Will Xfinity make the necessary changes to keep up with these constantly changing VPNs and give us a Pause Feature that works?
Or am I stuck paying for free wifi for our whole neighborhood?

Hello user_ec407c, thank you for reaching out to us here with this concern. I understand this can be very frustrating especially when your signal is bogged down by all the devices connected to the modem. Are you having issues with outside parties connecting to your local hot spot or are they actually connecting to your in home Wi-Fi?

user_ec407c,
IMHO the pause feature was doomed to fail from day one. Not only do many phones (and other devices) now generate random MACs by default, almost every teenage gamer I encounter these days knows how to change almost any device's MAC cuz it's also the key to evading router-based parental controls.
With all due respect, it sounds like your real problem is your neighbor...
If I were in your position I would ditch the xfinity gateway and get my own gear. Almost any good quality router will allow you to create a 'guest' wifi network for your neighbor, with it's own SSID and password, that can be completely isolated (in the networking sense) from your own wifi. Many routers also let you limit the amount of bandwidth the guest network uses.
If you're not a 'techie' you may need some help setting this up, but it sounds like your best bet going forward.
