Pairing printer

Can’t pair my canon mg5220 printer. Just received my new xb10 router. My network shows up on tje wireless lan list bit wont connect. There was a suggestion to change setting from wpa3 to wpa 2 nit went to the xfinity app and wpa3 is the only option. Looking for a wps button on the router but it only has a reset button. Troed manually entering my network that didnt work either. Cant figure out how to connect to the network

AFAIK, the single reset button is a dual-purpose button. Depending on how long it is held in, it can be either a WPS button or a factory reset button. Short pushes (2-3 seconds) result in the WPS function. Longer presses (15-20 seconds) result in a hard reset to factory defaults.

Thank you for reaching out here about that issue pairing your device. Did the advice from @EG work for you?

No. I tried holding the reset button for 10-15 seconds and it did go into reset. I then tried holding it for 2-3 seconds multiple times and it didn’t connect. The printer is about 20 years old and supports wpa/2. My new router has wpa/3 and no way to change setting to wpa/2. I think my printer has just aged out, become incompatible with new network systems and need to buy a new one.

@user_y5lvdx I have a link to share that walks you through connecting a wireless printer to your network.

Twenty years is a long time for your printer. Do you see any error messages when you try to connect?

@user_y5lvdx  Thanks for sharing the error message.

Are other devices connected or having an issue?

Have you tried restarting your modem as well?

Do you have the ability to use a wired connection such as a Ethernet cord or USB to set up your printer?
