Paid to upgrade to 1Gbps, now getting less than previous tier in speeds

I recently upgraded to the 1Gbps plan and found I needed to get a new modem that supports DOCSIS 3.1. I have since upgraded, but now my speeds are LESS than the 500Mbps tier I was paying before.

I have my own network gear - CM2000 modem and a Netgate  PFsense firewall and decent switches. Cabling is not the issue. I have at least CAT5e everywhere.

I find when i run a speed test, I am getting about ~370Mbps and have a decently high ping of 15-18ms.

What is the issue here? If I pay for 1Gbps, I expect to at least be in the 800-900Mbps range with all this nice gear.

Greetings, @user_5p2bot! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your new service, but you have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

If you just recently upgraded to a Docsis 3.1 modem, it may need to be reprovisioned with the correct boot file for your subscription speed. If you could send our team a direct message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, I'd be more than happy to look into this for you.

To send a Direct Message, please click on the “Direct Message” icon in the top-right corner of the screen, next to the bell icon, click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon, then type or select "Xfinity Support". Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window and press Enter to send your message and initiate a live session.

@user_5p2bot Did they resolve this for you?  I'm having a very similar issue. I'm lucky if I'm getting 50Mbps after upgrading to 1Gbps...

Hello, @joepistachio! I would be happy to further help with your speed. We want that to work perfectly and will get to the bottom of this!

Were you having any problems with the speed before you upgraded?

Are you using an Xfinity modem or do you own your modem?

What troubleshooting steps have you tried?
