The cause is probably a malfunctioning cooling fan. A common problem here. There is no fix other than to get it swapped out for another.

Good morning, @user_94d295, and thank you for reaching out through our Community Forums platform with your modem concerns. I would be alarmed as well if my equipment seemed to be overheating, and frustrated if it was causing connectivity issues for me! Not to worry- you've come to the right place!
As our Community Expert @EG mentioned, there is no other fix except to swap your modem for a new one when there's a hardware issue. Have you already taken the opportunity to head to your local Xfinity Service center to do so, or are you still in need of assistance in swapping your Gateway?
