ONT modem
1 year ago (May 13, 2025 to be exact) Xfinity connected my newly built home with fiber. I was set up with an ONT modem (The Nokia NKFN11AEL model 3FE48103AAAA) to be exact.
It then runs to the classic Xfinity white tower router. I was hoping to just have one unit, even it is a self purchase. I can NOT find anyone at Xfinity to tell me if there is a combo unit i can change to.
Dont get me wrong, this setup works. But, the router is too bulky to fit in my network panel.
1. Is there a combo unit that i can use?
2. Will "ANY" router work with the set up i currently have

Nope. Their gateway device must be used with their ONT. They use the (DPoE) Docsis Provisioning over Ethernet protocol within it for management and authentication purposes. Google for more info.
