One port on modem not working. Replaced modem and the same port isn't working...

the bottom right port with the orange dot does not work when plugged into any device. We returned it and the same port doesn't work. We tried multiple cables (that are known working) and different devices and there's no connection. It's blinking orange.

It's the slim white wifi6/7 modem - https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/6/21035595/comcast-wifi-6-new-router-gateway-xfi-advanced-security-ces-2020

You are only provided *ONE* IP address per house...this is the standard protocol for xfinity, and most other internet service providers.  Only one port on your modem will be active.  At one time, you could request a second IP address at an additional monthly fee, but that has been phased out.  All of this should have been explained to you when you returned the original modem.  Unless you can get your case escalated and show a valid reason for having 2 IP addresses, you will only have one active IP address, regardless of how many ports are on your modem.

But it's a combo modem / router gateway device, not just a plain vanilla cable modem. All LAN / ethernet ports should work as long as it's not in bridge mode..

Do any of the other ports work? The blinking orange generally means it’s connecting at 100 Mbps

@jlavaseur yes the other ports work. this one port does not work when connected to devices. One interesting thing I noticed is, in the routers config page it shows that port as 'disabled'. I didn't see a way to enable it though...

I have an XB7 and I want to use all 4th ports but for some reason the 4th port isnt working. When I checked the router admin page 10.0.0.1 it showed the 4th port as inactive/disabled. How do I enable that?

its the one with the red stripe - https://i.imgur.com/vow2k3z.jpg

i believe the red port is the first port, not 4th, it will show that if nothing is connected to that particular port

@eg I stand corrected once again, I always thought it was number 1, not sure why I thought that

All 4 of mine show inactive, yet all 4 are connected and working great, maybe a bug, at any rate maybe not a good indicator of the correct status

View information about the Gateway's Ethernet Ports.

The Gateway has 3 Gigabit (GbE) Ethernet Ports and one 2.5 (mGig) Ethernet Port. When a device is connected to the Gateway with an Ethernet cable, you'll see an Active status for that port.

Does the pc work in the other ports, or just doesn’t work in the 4th port? Just curious, did you try to set a manual ip on your pc?
