not getting upload speed using owned modem

I used to have my owned cable modem (Netgear CM2050V) setup as my cable modem.
With that modem I was able to reach the 1200 down but capped at 35 Mbps upload speed.
After many calls I was told, to reach the 200 Mbps upload speed, I would have to switch to the Xfinity XB8 cable modem with XFi complete.
I switched to the Xfinity XB8 cable modem as well as XFi complete and am able to attain the 200 Mbps upload speed.
On 7/20, a week after switching to the XB8 I received this email stating I would no longer need to use Xfinity equipment and have XFi complete to reach the agreed upon contractual speeds.

What I want to know is when can I switch back to my owned cable modem to achieve the and return the 1200 down / 200 upload speeds?

Thanks for any help you can provide on this.

Hello! We appreciate you making this post @user_053d74 we're here to help! While the exact requirements may be different depending on where you live, in general as it stands now, you would need to have both our modem and xFi Complete service to have the 200 mbps upload speeds. If you do not have xFi Complete, but still use our modem, you would get 100 mbps instead. Currently, customer owned modems are not supported, and we don't have a date or timeline available on when/if that will change. However, our main goal with these upgrades is to ensure everyone has access to the best, fastest, and most reliable connection, so we'll always be working to ensure we are designing this in a way that works for those with and without our modems. Any future changes will likely be communicated via email, so I would keep an eye out for any new updates there!

Thanks for the followup.

Based on the email sent directly to us in the below email the capability should be coming available.

Below is an email i received indicating the capability will be available with an owned modem which is why I am asking.

Xfinity Internet update

xFi Complete will no longer be required to receive your current upload speeds

What’s new?

In the past year, we increased upload speeds for all xFi Complete customers in your area. We’re happy to announce that coming soon xFi Complete will no longer be a requirement for you to receive these upload speeds so long as you use a compatible Xfinity Gateway or third party modem.

Your current Xfinity Internet package, with or without xFi Complete, will allow you to stream, work, and game at the fast speeds you enjoy today.

xFi Complete continues to offer complete peace of mind that comes with the best in-home WiFi. This includes keeping your devices safe and secure from cyberthreats, wall-to-wall WiFi coverage, and an upgraded Gateway after three years at no extra cost.

Thank you for being an Xfinity customer, and we look forward to you continuing to enjoy the benefits of xFi Complete.

Thanks for sending over that email. Once it is available in your area, you should receive a similar email, and you should also receive an update on your billing statement (usually the last page) letting you know of the change. Once the speeds are available, resetting your modem should grant you access. Is there anything else I can assist with today?

Is there any such confirmation or plan for higher upload speed in DMV area? I was told by Xfinity officials that my plan supports 400 download and 100 upload speed and my existing modem does not support it so I now upgrade my both modem as well as router but I still get upload speed no more then 12mbps.

@basantpatidar

Please create a new topic of your own here on this board detailing your issue. Thanks. The original poster has not returned. 4-month-old dead thread is now being closed.

For future reference, it is better to submit your own post as it creates a ticket to get help, and posting on an old thread can delay getting help.
