Not getting DOCSIS 3.1 upstream

Recently had a tech come out to fix some TV issues and while she was here she suggested I might want to get a modem that supports DOCSIS 3.1 for faster Internet.  So I got an ARRIS Surfboard 8200 and hooked it up.

It's showing I'm getting the 3.1 receive downstream (blue light) but not getting the upstream (green light).  Done all the restarts, both myself and through the Xfinity online tool.  No change.

I've got the (up to) 200 Mbs tier.

Does the router make a difference?  I didn't ask the tech if that would.  Anything else that you can suggest to bump up my speed and make the cost of this router worthwhile?

Thanks in advance.

Why would the tech have recommended it as a way to improve my download speed if they don’t offer it? Doesn’t make sense.

You don't automatically get faster speeds just by using a DOCSIS 3.1 device. You have to upgrade your speed tier to a faster one as well. DOCSIS is needed only for the gigabit speed tier.

Comcast does not yet offer D3.1 for the upstream.

I stated that they don't yet offer it for the upstream. They do indeed offer it for the downstream. If you subscribe to their gigabit speed tier, the advertised upload speed is 35 Mbps.
