Noise on incoming line ? Random Disconnects

Hi.  I've been seeing a lot of noise on our incoming line.  I've removed my modem and router, took them OUTSIDE and hooked them up to the Incoming line to eliminate the house wiring.  (A few years ago I had the same issue).

I'm getting numerous modem resets all day long and a massive amount of timeouts.

I'm seeing 45db , 48db and higher of noise with my modem hooked up OUTSIDE the house to the Line coming out of the ground to the box (NO SPLITTERS ETC). This seems excessive. In addition, Streampix hasn't worked in years (can get into any menu / on demand etc) and several of the lower numbered channels are pixelated.

Can Xfinity do some kind of "Line Check" to determine where this noise is coming from.  Last time the tech replaced some things in the box on the property line.  (FIlters / capacitors ???  I can't remember).  Thanks.

That sounds like the upstream power level figure, not the SNR figure. Please post all of the signal status figures (the *Downstream Power Level*, the *Upstream Power Level*, and the *SNR* (Signal to Noise Ratio) numbers).

I'm not at home to post current log.  The SNR varies and is (as of this morning) it was 49db.

Sorry for the typo.  IT should have read 45 db and above,  NOT 54db.  And yes, Downstream SNR has varied up to 54, but currently is 49db.   I'll try to edit that in the post above.

If it helps: From my notes this AM.   Downstream SNR (1-32) varied from    - 0.30 dbmv to  -2.70 dBmv and 40.37 - 48.25dB  SNR- pretty much as they normally have been recently.

Upstream 54.00  dBmv

As a side note>  Even though I have the firmware update, I'm still using the SB6190 (Puma Chipset), which I'll be replacing this week).  It's been doing ok up until now, but perhaps it could be the culprit.... or contributing possibly..

The upstream power is too high / out of spec. It should not be that high directly off of the drop from the street / pole. The drop coax line itself may need to be replaced. Or the problem may be further up the line somewhere in the neighborhood lines.

You'll need to get a tech out to investigate / determine what is needed. Good luck !

Thanks very much for the reply. Much appreciated. If it helps further,  This is what is just ran.  It seems to vary from day to day. This is accurate as of 10 min ago. Upstream power seems high to me also.

It's at the top limit ! There is an intermittent line / connection impairment going on somewhere. Further posting of the stats will not help. You have to get *boots on the ground* !
